Last Updated on Monday, 19 December 2011 05:59 Written by External Post Monday, 19 December 2011 05:59

If you’re trying to reach a mobile audience, you face enough challenges without trying to do things that will at best have no effect and at worst might actually be harmful. Let’s take a look at these myths. The first myth is that you need a dotMobi site for indexing and ranking purposes. Yes, the whole point of the dotMobi global top level domain is to serve those who want their domains to reach mobile users. But you might be surprised to learn that most businesses, when building a mob…

DomainConsultant.com Domain Name Auction

Last Updated on Saturday, 20 March 2010 10:40 Written by a2e Saturday, 20 March 2010 10:40

DomainConsultant.com announced the opening of its annual auction, Domain Madness 2, with a catalog of seventy high-end domains priced from $1 to $1.5 million.

“We believe in finding and offering singular domains with advertising, marketing and search engine optimization value,” says DC Analyst, Mike Fiol, citing the fact that HappyBirthday.com is listed on the first page of Google, Yahoo and MSN under the term “happy birthday.”

This and other reasons are why the DM2 Auction comes on the heels of what has been a steady climb for domain names in value and credibility — attracting new and varied buyers.

“Domain names are global, thus they have retained and increased their value as an asset, property and investment hedge,” adds Fiol. “Outside money has been flowing in just as it has been fleeing all the other options.”

Result is sales such as that of Toys.com for over $5 million or the recent purchases of Poker.org for one million and Guns.com for $800,000.

“The domain name industry has reached a level of maturity, beyond the bubbles, because more and more investors, companies and individuals are realizing it’s the same deal as in real estate,” says another DC Analyst, Adam Strong, who also runs Domain Name News. “It’s about location, location, location.”

About the Auction
DM2 is an online auction going on now through Tuesday, March 23rd when all the names will close and be sold to the highest bidder. Auction registration is free, visit www.domainmadness2.com for complete inventory and details.

Sedo, the leading online domain marketplace and monetization provider, today announced it will hold its Travel and Geographical domain-themed auction, featuring premium addresses with a broad selection of extensions. Large and small to medium-sized travel industry organizations alike and domain investors will have the opportunity to acquire some of the most desirable properties, including Belgium.com, VisitSpain.net, Tourism.biz, and Souvenirs.net. This Sedo auction will run from 9 a.m. EST on March 5, 2010 to 9 a.m. EST on March 12, 2010.

In addition to these valuable virtual properties that will be auctioned off, Sedo is offering highly desired fixed-price domains, including PuertoRico.com, Sweden.com, Hotel.eu, and Morocco.com. Sedo’s ongoing “Buy it Now” inventory is available anytime at www.sedo.com/Travel.

Travel and geo domains are some of the most valuable online properties on the market today. Sedo brokered some of the highest sales in 2009, including Russia.com for $1.5 million, the second highest sale ever in its category, Fly.com, which was acquired by TravelZoo for $1.6 million, Brazil.com for $500,000, and Jets.com for $375,000. In addition, GetaRoom.com, which was also purchased through Sedo.com, is being successfully used as a search engine for great deals on hotel rooms.

“We are extremely happy with our purchase of the domain name getaroom.com. It is easy to remember and stands out from the crowd,” said Bob Diener, founder of Getaroom.com. “We have been advertising getaroom.com to build brand awareness, but the name itself has been driving visitors to our competitive hotel rates.”

“Through this auction and our ongoing inventory of domains, Sedo offers companies of all sizes and budgets, the opportunity to obtain domain names that are ideal for promoting targeted traffic to their business. Whether an investor is looking to participate in this auction event, purchase a domain for a set price, or consult with one of our brokers, Sedo offers each buyer a platform to confidently find the right domain at the right price for their business needs,” said Jeremiah Johnston, chief operating officer of Sedo. “With these premium properties, organizations can implement an effective online marketing strategy that drives maximum traffic to their doorstep, saves money on search engine marketing and improves their position in search rankings.”

Sedo is still accepting travel and geo domains for this auction event. For more information on seller criteria for Sedo’s auction, owners of these domains can contact Sedo Broker, Matt Rosebrook at Matt.Rosebrook@sedo.com. Qualifying sellers can also apply directly through their Sedo account.
