RM Buys Former Kruse Auction Park

Last Updated on Saturday, 3 July 2010 01:20 Written by a2e Saturday, 3 July 2010 01:20

Rob Myers, Chairman and Founder of Canadian-based RM Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction house, today announced the purchase of the 235-acre auction park located in Auburn, Indiana by a subsidiary of RM from long-time automobile auctioneer, Dean V. Kruse**.

As part of the company’s overall expansion plans, Myers also announced the formation of Auctions America by RM ? a new RM subsidiary created to operate the recently-acquired auction facility, specializing in the presentation of the hugely popular 1950s and ’60s classics, customs and muscle car segment of the collector car market.

RM Auctions continues its annual calendar of events, and the two separate RM auction entities, each with its own focused brand identity, will seamlessly serve the entire spectrum of the collector car market with the superior level of client service for which RM has become known.

Under the Auctions America by RM banner, the tradition of staging what was once the world’s largest automobile auction held in conjunction with the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Festival each Labor Day weekend, will mark its 40th year, September 2 to 6, 2010 in Auburn.

“The very first collector car auction I attended was the one held on Labor Day weekend in Auburn back in 1974. The ACD Festival and auction weekend has been a tradition for me ever since,” stated Myers. “All of us within the RM group of companies are very excited to take on these new opportunities and we look forward to upgrading the auction park and continuing to serve our clients and friends with a venue like Auburn.”

Donnie Gould, RM Auctions partner and collector car expert, has been appointed President of Auctions America by RM. Gould will work closely with Ed Cepuran in his new role as Chief Financial Officer of RM’s new subsidiary. Serving as General Manager, the day-to-day aspects of the business will be overseen by RM car specialist, Ken Wallace.

“RM Auctions has so many customers active in the buying and selling of muscle cars, customs, street rods and just plain great old cars that we simply cannot service them all with our existing venues,” said Gould. “We believe the Auburn location is ideal for this biggest segment of the market with its freeway access, huge parking lots, and motorcoach and swap meet facilities. We are all very excited to get started.”

The Auburn Auction Park is located at 5540 County Road 11-A, Auburn, IN 46706. Originally opened in 1989, it is considered one of the best facilities of its kind by car enthusiasts from across the country. For more information or to consign a car to this year’s Labor Day weekend auction, please call 1-877-906-2437.

Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Week Declared in Palm Beach County

Last Updated on Friday, 26 March 2010 09:20 Written by a2e Friday, 26 March 2010 09:20

The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company announced today that Commissioner Burt Aaronson officially declared March 27-April 3, 2010, “Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Week” in Palm Beach County. Aaronson presented the proclamation to Rick Vymlatil, president/CEO of Palm Beach County Expositions Inc., on Tuesday in honor of the 8th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach and other automotive-themed events hosted by Barrett-Jackson beginning tomorrow.

“Everyone at Barrett-Jackson appreciates the support of the current Commissioner Aaronson and the Palm Beach County during the past eight years,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Dynamic partnerships with area organizations and the enthusiasm of Palm Beach County residents have helped make our annual auction and activities unlike any other automotive event in the country.”

“Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Week” in Palm Beach County kicks off tomorrow at 3 p.m. with the Inaugural Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Road Rally. The rally will travel from the Palm Beach County Convention Center to the Gucci Courtyard on Worth Avenue, with local car clubs as participants. The opening weekend continues tomorrow evening with Barrett-Jackson Night at CityPlace from 4-8 p.m.

On Sunday, Wayne Akers Ford in Lake Worth will host the 3rd annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Cruise-In from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Barrett-Jackson executives will attend the Cruise-In to greet local car enthusiasts and select three “Barrett-Jackson Choice Awards.”

“We have taken our presence in Palm Beach to an entirely new level this year,” added Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Communities throughout Palm Beach County have played a major role in making Barrett-Jackson the premier collector car auction on the East Coast. We have ratcheted up the thrills this year with several grassroots events and of course, another exciting auction on April 1-3.”

Barrett-Jackson shifts its focus to the Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds on Wednesday, where it will host “The Party” at 7 p.m. For $75 per couple, guests can enjoy great food and entertainment while partying the night away with Barrett-Jackson.

Another Barrett-Jackson tradition will get a new twist this year at the Palm Beach event. Over the past several years, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation has raised funds at Barrett-Jackson by auctioning cars with 100% of the proceeds benefiting its programs. Before each collector car auction starts, the Foundation gives a wheelchair to a deserving child. To further the organization’s fundraising efforts, Barrett-Jackson will also conduct a live auction with several unique items and experiences to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation during “The Party” on Wednesday night.

The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach collector car auction takes center stage on Thursday through Saturday. The auction action begins with the automobila before moving to the world’s most desirable vehicles crossing the block at No Reserve.
