Lloyd Cameron Auctioneers and Valuers have opened a new Valuation Centre at Wigan Investment Centre, Waterside Drive, WIGAN, WN3 5BA. This follows the opening of their new Auction Centre at 9 Berkeley Court, Manor Park, RUNCORN, Cheshire in March of this year. Plans are in place to open a further office serving South Manchester.

An exquisite tie pin gifted by Edward Prince of Wales, (1894-1972) (Later King Edward VIII) to a chauffeur in 1923 is to appear at auction on 30th September.
Discovered on a valuation day in Lichfield, the 15ct gold pin is surmounted with an enamelled ‘E’ and plumes contained in the original case with letter from St James’ Palace expressing the Prince’s gratitude.
In 1923 Prince Edward visited the midlands on a tour. A local policeman ‘R’ 47 William Jones was given the prestigious and responsible task of chauffeuring the future King back from Stratford Upon Avon on the last day of his visit to Birmingham. Photographs are included showing Mr Jones seated in the driving seat of a suitably grand motor car outside Shakespeare’s birthplace. Prince Edward can be seen descending the steps towards the awaiting car.
Prince Edward later became famous for his notorious relationship with American divorcee Wallis Simpson. In 1936 he abdicated to be with the woman he loved.
The Royal gift will appear as Lot 261 in Richard Winterton’s Fine Art & Collectors Auction on 30th September at The Lichfield Auction Centre. Contact the auctioneers for further information on 01543 251081. Free valuation days are held in Lichfield on Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm.
