On Monday, May 17th at 6:00 pm, Clarke Auction will sell over 470 lots sourced from local estates throughout the Greater New York area.
Silver highlights include a Kalo Shop Caviar Set, Spratling, Tiffany, an enameled Russian Box, Judaica, an .800 Figure of Demeter, Gorham, Arts and Crafts, Edwardian English Sterling, Chinese Export, and pieces still being catalogued.
Antique and Traditional Furniture Highlights begin with a signed Henry Dasson Marble-Topped and Ormolu Table, an early Georgian Dressing Table, a Heavily Carved Tapestry-Upholstered Settee from the West Side brownstone; an 18th C. Paint-Decorated Slantfront Desk; Period Regency Sideboard and Drop-Leaf Table; 19th C. Secretaries, Desks, and Chests; a Berkey and Gay Dining Set; a 19th C. Louis XVI-style Marble-Topped End Table and other pieces being catalogued. Of special interest is a highly decorative painted and parcel gilt Chinoiserie dining suite. In addition, the remains of a collection of mint French and Italian carved decorative furniture removed from local storage will also be sold.
Fine art features selections of contemporary and listed American, European, and Mexican works from a noted Purchase NY collector, including images of Frida Kahlo; an oil on panel attributed to John Crome the Elder with a W.T Blodgett provenance; a pencil-signed Rauschenberg poster, 19th C.Sporting Oils; an 1897 exhibited watercolor by Robert Little; a large early portrait of a pretty child from Park Avenue, 19th C. oils in fine gilt frames from the West Side brownstone, African-American Watercolors by Nat Hayman, Judaic works including oils signed Steinhard and Rattner, box-lotted older oils, box-lotted signed prints, and a selection of Art and Decorative Bronzes.
